This book describes an information architecture designed to achieve intellectual control over large-scale, modular, integrated, fault-tolerant systems that leverage Semantic Web Services for automated analysis and design support during the engineering process. The technology independence of the information architecture reduces risk and saves money by preventing unknown project derailments.

A key portion of the 400 page book is devoted to validation and verification, where axiomatic design approach makes an impact on actual implementation of information architecture at the concept stage. Acclaro DFSS software provides the framework implementation for the AIDF process that OO modeling teams reference when building large-scale knowledge based engineering (KBE) systems (e.g. for NASA). VDM publishing in Germany is the publisher.

About the Author

Urcun (John) Tanik, Ph.D. is a systems architect and researcher supported by a NASA Fellowship Training Grant in computer engineering at UAB (2004-2006). He has a B.S. and M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin and UAB, respectively. Since 1998, he has been practicing enterprise architecture and management.
