Dr. Sung-Hee Do Wins the F.W. Taylor
Medal for Axiomatic Design
Brighton, MA, August 31, 2003
- Dr. Sung-Hee Do, Vice President of Technology at Axiomatic Design Solutions,
Inc. (ADSI) has been awarded the F.W. Taylor Medal 2001 for his outstanding
research work in the field of software system design for improved software quality.
Dr. Do presented his award-winning paper, "Axiomatic Design of Software Systems,"
at the CIRP 2000 General Assembly in Sydney, Australia.
The unique research and development
work of Dr. Do lies in the combination of design with an object-oriented programming
method to create new systems. He is one of the pioneering contributors to axiomatic
design and developed a new generic approach to software design called "Axiomatic
Design of Object-Oriented Software System."
Every year, the International
Institution for Production Engineering Research, or CIRP (College International
pour l'Etude Scientifique des Techniques de Production Mecanique) based in Paris,
awards the F.W. Taylor Medal to an individual for his outstanding contribution
to production engineering research and development. The medal is named after
Frederick W. Taylor (1856-1915) who was a pioneer in production engineering,
and is also known for defining the techniques for scientific management.
CIRP, an international organization
with about 500 members representing some 40 countries, was founded in 1951.
Nominations for Taylor Medal are evaluated by a CIRP committee with a detailed
reviewing process, and the final decision is approved by at least two-thirds

Dr. Do, was born in 1966,
graduated from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the
Hanyang University in Ansan
City, Korea with a B.S. Degree in 1989, and obtained his M.S. degree in Seoul
Axiomatic Design Solutions works with the management of leading companies and
institutions on Axiomatic Design technology. ADSI provides services and tools
to enable advanced design processes and risk management for systems and products.
